Oils on cardboard – the impossible painting?

Working in the studio on my 3-colored art works which I am making using oil colors on cardboards without putting any “gesso”.

This technique is new to me – I usually work on canvases (ready to use). But these ones here – wooden surface or cardboard are totally different to work with! The surface is dry and rough and allows me to achieve the effect of an wooden sculpture in the painting.

If you take a close look you will notice the “Sepia” style of the art works.

I started this project when I was studying painting in Florence. I liked it so much!
I am still learning how to use the oils on the dry cardboard but it is fun and an adventure. Also, I don’t believe that I could achieve the same effect on the canvas.
